Project description:
A 21m long x 14m wide x 7m high swimming pool enclosure constructed from prefabricated stressed skin laminated timber panels for both walls and roof designed in a folded plate construction. 15m long x 5m wide tapering triangulated roof panels were transported to site on bespoke lorry frames to comply with a restricted width and height transport limitations for public highways. Exposed glulam primary beams triangulated around glulam secondary rafters and over-clad with cross laminated timber provided a fully expressed timber skeleton with concealed steelwork joints and sitting on slender steelwork columns providing a glazed window skirting around. The exterior was insulated and clad with a metal roofing system and then concealed with weather boarding to follow the planes of the panels.
