Project description:
The new bus station in Lincoln City centre provides the transport hub in the heart of the city’s new development and regeneration scheme. The single storey concourse of 90 metres long is constructed using a steel frame providing support to 600mm deep Austrian larch glulam cranked rafters at wide centres with Austrian larch glulam purlins spanning between. The glulam timber provides a softer elegance to the functional space and, with the design of the tapered glulam rafter profile emerging externally along both eaves line, from outside you are offered a glimpse of what lies inside. With pre-coating of the timber off-site for durability and flame spread control combined with pre-fabrication of all components, the construction time on site was minimised.
